Best known for “Escape (The Piña Colada Song),” the singer-songwriter and Tony Award-winning artist will present an evening of Broadway, Disney and more. The concert will benefit the school’s Performing Arts Department and its April 2027 educational trip to Disney, helping students continue developing their creativity and performance skills beyond the classroom.
Holmes’s work reaches well beyond his familiar pop hit. His theater credits include The Mystery of Edwin Drood, Curtains and Pirates! The Penzance Musical. The Mystery of Edwin Drood earned him Tony Awards for its book and score, while Curtains brought a collaboration with the celebrated songwriting team of John Kander and Fred Ebb.
He has also written songs for artists including Barbra Streisand, Barry Manilow, Melissa Manchester and Dolly Parton, and is a bestselling author. That range gives the school’s young performers a chance to encounter an artist whose work connects songwriting, storytelling and the stage. Holmes will be joined by friends and special guests for the concert.
For students, the evening also offers an opportunity to meet, work and perform with an accomplished artist whose career spans music, theater and writing.
“This concert is a tremendous opportunity for our students and our entire community,” said Anthony J. Rafaniello, Cranford High School’s Director of Choral Activities.
The concert begins at 7 p.m., with doors opening at 6 p.m., at Cranford High School, 201 West End Place. Tickets may be purchased at chs.booktix.com.
